Doha, October 20, 2015 – Al Jazeera English is now available on Snapchat under the user name “AJENews.”

The account will aim to deliver news in a more engaging format, drawing on stories from both the newsroom and the field.

“We’re inviting the world to engage directly with the journalists who bring us the news,” said Imad Musa, the manager of Online at Al Jazeera English.

“People always ask questions that go beyond what can be communicated in traditional news stories, so this is a fun and informative way to have conversations about current affairs,” he said.

Al Jazeera English, an international news channel established in 2006, has continued to grow in reach and popularity due to its global coverage, especially from underreported regions.

On a daily basis, millions of people access the latest news, analysis and documentary films on the channel’s social media platforms and aljazeera.com.

On TV, the channel currently broadcasts to over 260m households across 130 countries.

Al Jazeera English’s in-depth global approach to journalism, along with a commitment to telling the human story, has won it numerous awards and plaudits over the years. It won the “Outstanding Digital Team of the Year” award in June.
