The IBC elects Al Jazeera to its prestigious Council
Mohamed Abuagla, Executive Director, Technology & Operations Division, Al Jazeera Media Network elected to the International Broadcasting Convention to its prestigious Council as a first Middle Eastern and Arabic media industry representative. The membership of the council covers traditional broadcasters and equipment suppliers as well as newer entrants into the industry. They are working at very senior levels, significantly influencing the quality of IBC’s vision and direction.
On accepting the membership at the IBC Council, Mohamed Abuagla stated “It’s a tremendous honour to be able to represent Aljazeera Media Network in this prestigious industry leadership Council. This is a huge step in reaffirming Aljazeera’s position as a global media leader; not only in content and coverage, but across advanced technology disciplines. We have been leading the industry in various transformational activities and our presence in the IBC Council allows us to be at the forefront of industry influence circles. We have a choice to shape the future, or have the future shape us; we have chosen the driver seat”.
The IBC council covers the vision of industry pioneers and supports the strategic direction of IBC, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Council meets formally twice a year, its membership is in constant communication, sharing ideas and providing opinions. There are 15 to 20 members of the Council, serving up to three years. One third of members will be new each year, allowing IBC to identify important new areas in the world of electronic media and bring in different specialists whenever needed.
