The video shows how the island that was used by the U.S. Navy as a training ground for war for 60 years is today a toxic Superfund site because the Navy is still cleaning up their leftover bombs by literally exploding them.

In a year marked by overlapping crises and pandemic lockdowns, two Al Jazeera Digital teams have emerged with top prizes in the 2020 Online Journalism (OJA) Awards.

Al Jazeera English (AJE) was named ‘Broadcaster of the Year’ by the 2020 New York Festival TV & Film Awards for the fourth consecutive year. The channel collected an impressive array of gold, silver and bronze medals for its news coverage and programmes.

The creative directorate of Al Jazeera Media Network has won four Ava Digital Awards; two platinum, two gold, and a jury honorable mention, in a competition with nearly 2,500 entries from around the world.
