2022
Al Jazeera named ‘Telly Company of the Year’ 2022
For the second consecutive year, Al Jazeera has been named “Telly Company of the Year” at the annual Telly Awards. Winners were announced online on May 24. Organisers for the Telly Awards, which recognise excellence in video and television content across all screens, confer the prize annually to the broadcaster or online publisher with the most gold, silver and bronze medals.
Al Jazeera English’s Fault Lines Wins a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award
Al Jazeera English’s US-based documentary strand Fault Lines has won the prestigious Robert F. Kennedy Journalism award for its 2021 episode “Unrelinquished: When Abusers Keep Their Guns.”
The award, given by the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights organization, was announced on 24 May 2022 in an online ceremony. Other winners for this year’s awards include PBS, USA Today, the New York Times and the Miami Herald.
Al Jazeera Balkans wins Best TV Journalism award
Al Jazeera Balkans won the Award for the Best Media Outlet in the category of TV Journalism, which is traditionally awarded by the Association of Journalists of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Al Jazeera wins 10 “Broadcast Production” awards
Al Jazeera Media Network has won 10 awards at Newscast Studio’s Broadcast Productions Awards. The Network competed with more than 200 creative content-makers from many internationally renowned channels and institutions.

Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit and the Aljazeera.com News Desk have earned top prizes in the eighth annual Amnesty Media Awards honouring the best human rights journalism of the year.
Al Jazeera wins three top Webby awards
The Al Jazeera Media Network have won three top prizes and several nominations in the 26th annual Webby Awards honouring ‘the best of the internet.’
The Digital‘s narrative documentary strand Fly on the Wall won both a jury Webby and a People’s Voice award in the Reality: Video Series and Channels category, adding to previous top prizes in the AIB, New York Festivals, Picture of the Year and Telly competitions.
Al Jazeera English Named Broadcaster of the Year At the New York Festivals TV & Film
Al Jazeera English was named ‘Broadcaster of the Year’ at the 2022 New York Festivals TV & Film Awards for the sixth consecutive year.
The Al Jazeera Media Network collected an impressive array of gold, silver and bronze medals for its news and programmes coverage.
Al Jazeera Contrast wins Gracie Award
For a second consecutive year, Al Jazeera’s immersive storytelling and media innovation studio, AJ Contrast, has won a prestigious Gracie Award. Now in its 47th year, the Washington DC based Gracie’s are hosted by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) and recognise excellence in work produced by, for and about women.
Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit wins IRE Awards
Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit) won the 2021 Investigative Reporters and Editors Awards in the Digital Video category for its film The Island of Secrets.
The winning film The Island of Secrets reveals how a small, remote Mauritian island is being transformed into a military hub for India's navy as the country expands its geopolitical influence towards Africa.

A collaboration between Al Jazeera English’s 101 East team and Al Jazeera’s AJ Labs has been announced as a winner at the 2022 Sigma Awards winners.
From more than 600 entries from around the world, the interactive project “This is Myanmar’s State of Fear” was selected as one of 12 projects to represent the very best of data journalism.
Investigative Unit wins two British Sports Journalism Awards
Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit (I-Unit) has won two awards at British Sports Journalism Awards. The Men Who Sold Football investigation was released as a film on Al Jazeera English in August 2021 and won gold in the Television/Digital Documentary category. The podcast of the investigation also won a bronze in the Audio / Radio Documentary category.

At the 2021 Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism, Al Jazeera English’s 101 East team was announced as the winner of the Production category for the interactive project “This is Myanmar’s State of Fear”.
Al Jazeera wins two RTS TV Journalism Awards
Al Jazeera English has won a prestigious Royal Television Society (RTS) award in the Digital Award category for its series ‘All Hail the Lockdown’. The Network’s Investigative unit also took home an award, in the Home Affairs category for its film ‘The Men Who Sell Football’.
Al Jazeera Digital wins four Anthem Awards
Al Jazeera Digital won three Gold awards across and a Silver medal in the inaugural Anthem Awards for purpose-driven work on February 15. Hosted by the Webby Awards, the Anthem Awards honored innovators and change makers across a variety of social good sectors. Winners will be showcased during a virtual gala event on February 28.
Al Jazeera Centre for Public Liberties’ Inspiring Stories initiative wins three awards
Al Jazeera Centre for Public Liberties and Human Rights won three AVA Digital Awards; a platinum award for the Inspiring Stories initiative, and two gold awards in the Best Digital Story category for Being a Person with Disability is Aspirational and My Craft is in My Hand stories. The Centre also received two Honourable Mentions in the Web-Based Production category, for the design of the initiative's website as well as its non-profit content.

Al Jazeera’s I-Unit Film Wins at 2021 British Journalism Awards
Al Jazeera Investigative Unit (I-Unit) won one of the 2021 British Journalism Awards in the Sports Journalism category for its film The Men Who Sell Football.
The awarded film reveals how English football clubs can be bought by convicted criminals and become vehicles to launder dirty money. Football middlemen tell undercover reporters how they can hide a criminal’s money and identity behind offshore trusts and use “dirty tricks” to deceive the football authorities.
The Listening Post’s Battle for the BBC Wins FPA Award
Al Jazeera English’s media analysis and critique show, ‘The Listening Post’ was named Arts & Culture Story of the Year by London’s Foreign Press Association (FPA) for its episode “Battle for the BBC.”
Al Jazeera Wins Three Awards at Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards
Al Jazeera Media Network has been awarded three coveted Dolphin awards at the Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards for three films from Al Jazeera English Channel’s Witness documentary strand and Al Jazeera News Channel’s documentary "Palestine 1920". The winners were announced online on November 15.
AJE’s 101 East investigative wins Amnesty Int’l Australia
At the 2021 Amnesty International Australia Media Awards, Al Jazeera English’s 101 East team was announced as the winner of the Print/Online category for the interactive project “The $5 Forests”.
Al Jazeera wins 21 Lovie Awards
Al Jazeera Media Network wins 21 Lovie Awards, including 10 Jury awards and 11 People’s Lovie awards. The winners were honoured at the 11th Annual Lovie Awards ceremony, held virtually, on November 17, 2021.
AJE named Channel of the Year at the 2021 AIB Awards
Al Jazeera English (AJE) was named ‘Channel of the Year’ at the 2021 Association of International Broadcaster Awards.
The channel also won two awards, in the Continuing News Reporting and Arts and Culture categories.
AJD's documentary wins AFRIFF award
After competing against 15 foreign documentaries, Al Jazeera's Documentary Channel's film, In The Hands of God, won the Best Documentary Award at the 10th AFRIFF International Film Festival (AFRIFF) in Lagos, Nigeria.
AJD's Little Palestine wins the Golden Tanit in Carthage
At its 32nd edition, the Carthage Film Festival announced, Little Palestine, co-produced by Al Jazeera Documentary channel, a winner of the Golden Tanit award in the Feature Documentary category.
Al Jazeera Podcast “Hindsight” wins NYF Radio Award
Hindsight, Al Jazeera Digital’s docudrama podcast series, won a Silver Medal for Best Narration at the 2021 New York Festivals Radio Awards. The full roster of winners was announced virtually, as part of the New York Festivals Storytellers Gala livecast from New York on October 12.
