Al Jazeera Documentary channel's film, The Sacred Woods​, received Best Film award at the 6th African Film Festival​ held in Dallas, USA.

Al Jazeera Media Network's Creative directorate has won three prizes at NewscastStudio’s Broadcast Productions Awards. The Network’s creative directorate competed with more than 200 creative content-makers from many internationally-renowned channels and institutions.

In a year marked by overlapping crises and pandemic lockdowns, two Al Jazeera Digital teams have emerged with top prizes in the 2020 Online Journalism (OJA) Awards.

The full roster of winners was published on October 17, following a two-week online journalism innovation forum, ONA20 Everywhere, hosted by the Online News Association (ONA).

AJ+ won the 2020 National Edward R. Murrow Award in the category of Excellence in Social Media for its story “The US Navy's Toxic Playground: Vieques, Puerto Rico”, an episode of the multi-awarded show Direct From. The video shows how the island that was used by the U.S. Navy as a training ground for war for 60 years is today a toxic Superfund site because the Navy is still cleaning up their leftover bombs by literally exploding them.

Al Jazeera English’s 101 East documentary strand was named a Gold Winner at the Venice TV Awards in the category of ‘Cross-Platform Programming’ for its interactive report, “The $5 Forests”.

Al Jazeera English has won the First and Second Place in the TV Best Coverage of Native America category from the Native American Journalists Association. In addition to an Honorable Mention for Best News Story for the Al Jazeera English website.

AJ Contrast’s immersive multimedia experience, Still Here, won a prestigious Digital Project of the Year in the RTDNA Kaleidoscope Awards on Sept. 8, marking the fourth award for the project since its premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival in February.
