Al Jazeera Documentary Channel broadcasts more than 90 hours of series and one off documentaries about the World Cup, shedding light on human stories and the 32 qualifying countries in this year’s tournament.
During the month-long sporting event, the Channel is broadcasting films in Arabic under the name “Tales Behind the World Cup”, A collection of unique stories and exclusive archives that relive the most important historical football events globally.
Al Jazeera Documentary Channel’s most recent theme “People & Stadiums” began broadcasting in October 2022 previewing a variety of documentaries about football and cultures. It will showcase exclusive coverage of the activities happening around the hosting nation during the sporting event and the qualifying countries at the FIFA World Cup.
Ahmed Mahfouz, Managing Director of Al Jazeera Documentary Channel, revealed that the Channel adopted a unique strategy in preparation for this international event. This four-year plan embodied a robust programme of producing and acquiring exclusive films that celebrate human stories in line with the Channel’s strategic direction.
