Al Jazeera English is amongst the first wave of news outlets available on the newly launched Apple TV, providing the latest global news and programmes live and on demand.

The channel will add a revolutionary experience to the living room through the app which has been specifically built for a better viewing experience.

Users will be able to save videos for later viewing, access all saved content from the Watch List, have 24-hour access to Al Jazeera’s live video stream and follow a full schedule to see what’s coming up later in the day.

“The Al Jazeera English app for Apple TV provides a compelling experience for our loyal viewers and is the most recent addition to our growing portfolio of digital products,” said Ibrahim Hamid, Director of Enterprise and Digital Platforms, Al Jazeera Media Network.

“Al Jazeera works diligently to make sure that our rich content is available on all new digital platforms. The launch of the Al Jazeera app on Apple TV is just one example and we will continue to add more. Future versions of our Apple TV apps are already in the process of development which will allow users to have a continuous personalised experience between our mobile apps and the TV apps, essentially allowing you to save videos from your favourites on your mobile app on the go and then seamlessly play those videos when you get home to your Apple TV without any hassle.”

Imad Musa, Manager of Al Jazeera English Online said: “Whether you are looking for a two minute clip on the latest developments in Jerusalem, a full documentary on India’s rising power in Africa, or an impassioned debate on the future of Syria, we want you to be able to find it easily on the device of your choice. Apple TV is another platform which will bring our award winning content to everyone interested in global affairs, anywhere in the world at the touch of a button”.

Al Jazeera English, the international news channel established in 2006, has continued to grow in reach and popularity due to its global coverage, especially from underreported regions.

On a daily basis, millions of people access the latest news, analysis and documentary films on the channel’s social media platforms and aljazeera.com.

On TV, the channel currently broadcasts to over 260m households across 130 countries.

Al Jazeera English’s in-depth global approach to journalism, along with a commitment to telling the human story, has won it numerous awards and plaudits over the years. It won the “Outstanding Digital Team of the Year” award in June.
