The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards have announced the appointment of Al Jazeera English Channel’s Managing Director Mr Giles Trendle to their Advisory Board and Grand Jury on Monday, October 1, 2018.

Commenting on Trendle’s appointment, Rose Anderson, VP/Executive Director of The New York Festivals TV & Film Awards, said: “With Giles Trendle and Sammy Choi, our Advisory Board benefits from the perspectives of two more prominent broadcasters, lending not only a global diversity but also a hands-on knowledge of the multiple formats and platforms that are engaging audiences around the world. As award-winning industry leaders, they understand the elements that go into creating compelling award-winning nonfiction content.”

Commenting on his appointment, Trendle said: “I am honoured to be chosen to join the Advisory Board and Grand Jury of the New York Festivals TV & Film Awards. I hope to bring with me the expertise of Al Jazeera and its pioneering storytelling to identify and highlight captivating content.”

Trendle started his journalism career in the 1980s as a freelance print journalist based in Lebanon covering the country’s civil war.
