Dr. Elmogummer is the Head of the Partnerships and Research Section of the Aljazeera Center for Public Liberties and Human Rights.
In his role, he plans and implements activities, projects and partnerships with organizations focused on international and local human rights, media freedoms and humanitarian issues. He also works with Al Jazeera's newsrooms on media approaches to issues based on international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Before joining Al Jazeera Media Network, he worked as Executive Director at the International Civic Aid Organization, an NGO. that led an international campaign to defend Sudanese detainees in Guantanamo and demand the closure of the notorious prison. He has contributed to building the capacities of journalists and leaders of NGOs, lawyers, consultants and police officers.
He holds a PhD in Peace Studies and Human Rights from the University of Juba.
