Elizabeth Puranam is a senior presenter at Al Jazeera English. She has worked for the Channel since 2012, both presenting and reporting.
Elizabeth has presented, from the studio and reported about world events of the past decade. From the ground, specifically from 2020 to 2023, she has reported on some of the biggest global news stories, including the COVID-19 pandemic; India’s Farmers Protests; the rise of Hindu nationalism; and natural disasters in the world’s most populous country. Elizabeth also moderates events for various United Nations agencies.
She grew up in India and later New Zealand, where she began her career in journalism at TV3 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences and Media Studies from the University of Auckland.
