Montaser joined Al Jazeera’s newsroom in 2002, and became the Head of Production for Al Jazeera Documentary Channel in 2008.
He produced several documentaries for Al Jazeera and was a field correspondent in Tahrir Square during the Egyptian Revolt of 2011.
In 2013 he joined the Al Jazeera Training Center (later Al Jazeera Media Institute) as head of the Media Advisory Board.
