Raed Fakih was appointed director of news for Al Jazeera Arabic Channel in September 2025. Prior, he had been the manager of input for the channel’s news planning department for four years.
His role was overseeing the channel’s news coverage and the correspondents', including the coverage of the Israeli war on Gaza and Lebanon and the Russia-Ukraine war.
Raed began his journalism career in 1997 in Lebanon, before working as a reporter from Washington in 2004. He then returned to Lebanon as a correspondent for Al Jazeera in 2011. In 2014, he became the channel's correspondent from the United Nations headquarters in New York, where he covered UN activities and international diplomacy.
Over the past two decades, he has covered political, security and military events from more than 50 countries.
