Laila Al Shaikhli is a principal presenter on Al Jazeera Channel (Arabic). Her career spans more than 30 years in journalism and media. She started her career in Washington on the ANA-USA in 1991, and was the first female face to air on BBC Arabic in 1994, then moved to MBC in 1996 in London. She moved to Abu Dhabi TV in 1999, and then joined Al Jazeera in 2006. She presented major news bulletins as well as news programmes such as “Beyond the News” and “Interview of the Day”.
Laila interviewed many prominent personalities and leaders, including Nelson Mandela, Muammar Gaddafi, Yasser Arafat and Rafic Hariri. She reported from the field, most notably on the September 11th attacks and Israel's withdrawal from south Lebanon.
