Al Jazeera Arabic’s programme “The Story Continues” has won the 2025 International Emmy Award in its fifty third edition, in the News category, for its episode “Gaza Searching for Life.” Al Jazeera was selected from among sixty four international nominations, making it the only Arab network to reach the final shortlist this year.

Production of the award-winning episode began in the early days of the war on Gaza, on 8 October 2023. The film highlights the lives of five individuals who risk their safety every day to carry out their work, including municipal workers, civil defence teams, and hospital staff who continued saving lives under constant threats and unprecedented levels of destruction.

In addition to winning the International Emmy Award, the Al Jazeera Media Network received special recognition at the Anthem Awards, which celebrate influential media projects with a humanitarian mission. The initiative “Targeting Journalists is a Crime” received two Gold Awards in the Human Rights and Civil Liberties categories for Best Global Awareness Campaign and Best Special Project, along with the Bronze Shorty Impact Award.

The initiative draws attention to the unprecedented rise in crimes committed against journalists around the world and calls for holding those responsible for their killing accountable.
