AKASH DTH is set to revolutionize TV viewing in Bangladesh, as the Commerce Minister of Bangladesh Tipu Munshi said “when we are moving towards our dream of 'Digital Bangladesh' and establishing our presence in the sky, a company from our country is going to make its debut today.”

With the flooding of Smart HDTVs in Bangladesh, masses are fast adopting different viewing habits expecting choicest of HD contents and viewing experience. AKASH DTH and their large bouquet of local & foreign TV Channels will be able to provide viewers with an enhanced viewing experience that is unequalled in the country’s existing market.

Commenting on the partnership, Abdulla AlNajjar, Executive Director of Global Brand and Communications at Al Jazeera Media Network said: “We are delighted to have partnered with Beximco and look forward to launch of Al Jazeera English HD Channel on AKASH DTH which will provide our viewers a different engaging experience on the first ever DTH platform of Bangladesh”

Faisal Hyder (CEO) of Beximco Communications Ltd said: “We saw a substantial market which needed to be addressed and make it a significant business case, hence we seized the opportunity.  This all happened because of a vision to bring in world-class home entertainment service that will redefine the best quality TV viewing experience in Bangladesh.” He expressed his contentment for having a partnership with a leading media network like Al Jazeera and wished an enduring association.

Bangladesh, a country with over 162 million population has a rapidly growing TV penetration aggregating to over 23 million TV households. The increasing numbers reflects that TV is still the centre of family entertainment in the country. 95% of the Pay TV market is dominated by Cable TV.
