Ahmad Alyafei is a Qatari journalist and has been the Managing Director of Al Jazeera Arabic Channel since 2018. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Managing Director of Al Jazeera 'Mubasher’ Channel, during which he also worked on the launch of the Al Jazeera ‘Mubasher Misr’ project in 2012.
Ahmad did his Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Qatar University in 2005. He then obtained a Master’s degree in Executive Management from the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom in 2017.
Ahmad led the digital transformation in news production to serve the main business areas of the channel. This was later developed into a digital newsroom that was able to leverage social media content in the news to target new audiences, who are younger and more interactive.
In 2021, inspired by the novel platform styles, Ahmad and his team launched the new and transformative Newsroom Project with its innovative news editorial and distribution mechanisms.
