Ahmad Alyafei is a Qatari journalist and has been the Manager Director of Al Jazeera since 2018. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Managing Director of Al Jazeera from 2014-2018, as well as Deputy Managing Director of Al Jazeera Mubasher Channel, during which he oversaw the launch of the Al Jazeera Mubasher project in 2012.
Ahmad did his BA in Mass Communication in 2005 from Qatar University. He then obtained a Master's degree in Executive Management from the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom in 2017.
Ahmad led the digital transformation in news production to serve the main business areas of the channel, as it later developed into a digital newsroom that was able to leverage social media content in the news to target new audience groups who are younger and more interactive.
In 2021, inspired by the novel platform styles, Ahmad and his team launched the new and transformative Newsroom Project with its innovative news editorial and distribution mechanism making Al Jazeera a pioneer at this juncture.
