Berina Durmišević was born in 1962 in Sarajevo. She graduated economics at the University of Sarajevo on a full academic scholarship. Berina started her career at a major regional automotive company FAMOS in 1985. In 1994 she joined Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Hercegovina as Head of finance and soon was promoted to Chief commissioner of the army accounting department. Berina left the Ministry in 2005 from the position of Deputy Minister in charge of the finances, to join PREVENT industries as the CFO. Before joining Al Jazeera Balkans in 2011, she successfully completed business degree at MIT Centre at Sarajevo Graduate School of Business.
