AJMI signs an MoU with Ethiopian Broadcast Corp

Al Jazeera Media Institute signed on Monday, May 15, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC). The MoU aims to boast the cooperation between the two parties on media works and expertise exchange.

The MoU was signed in the Director General’s office in the presence of a high profile Ethiopian delegation headed by the Ethiopian Minister of Communication.

Mounir Daymi, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute signed the MoU on behalf of AJMI; and Siom McKinnin, CEO of the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation, signed for the Ethiopian party.

In his speech, the Ethiopian minister praised the experience of Al Jazeera and its achievements over the journey of the two decades during which it has become a world leading media organization. He valued the opportunity for EBC to benefit from the accumulated experience and skills of the Al Jazeera’s staff in various media branches. The minister also showed appreciation for the Al Jazeera’s documentary production on Ethiopian issues and culture.

Dr. Mostefa Souag, Al Jazeera’s acting Director General, welcomed the Ethiopian delegation, and introduced the them to Al Jazeera’s history, its channels and platforms. He underlined the its role in professional development provided to the journalists and media personalities through Al Jazeera Media Institute.

The Ethiopian delegation was invited to tour the network’s channels, studios and newsrooms. They were introduced to the workflow and mechanism of producing the news and the programs. They had a tour in Al Jazeera Media Institute’s building, halls and studios as well.
