Mohammed Taha Tawakel, Al Jazeera bureau chief in Ethiopia since 2017. He holds a bachelor's degree from Sudan. Tawakel has worked as a correspondent for the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper, Al-Quds, and Al-Wasat magazine, later for BBC. He also served as bureau chief for Qatar News Agency and Anadolu Agency in Ethiopia. He has covered the affairs of the African Union, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), and the Nile water issue.
