Bureau chief of Al Jazeera's office in Jerusalem, Walid Omary is a Palestinian journalist who moved between several Palestinian and Arab media outlets before joining Al Jazeera Arabic channel in 1996.
Walid participated in and supervised press coverage in Palestine and Israel, most notably the Al-Aqsa Intifada, and the Israeli wars on Gaza and Lebanon.
He received his high school education at the Arab Orthodox College in Haifa, then the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv University, and received his doctorate in media from The Hague University.
He was a professor and trainer at the media institute of Birzeit University, and has published five books on media and politics.
