Haitham Abu Saleh is a senior presenter at Al Jazeera Arabic Channel. He presents the programmes “Press Mirror” and “The Listening Post”. He also works in the newsroom and a field correspondent in Qatar and abroad.
He has covered the launches of the Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, Al Jazeera English Channel, and Al Jazeera Documentary Channel.
In 2007, Haitham covered the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Qatar. He went on to report on the opening of the Museum of Islamic Art in 2008 and the Arab Summit in 2009, as well as meetings between then-Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and several world leaders, including then Egyptian President, Hosni Mubarak. He also covered the 2012 Doha Agreement aimed at ending the division between Hamas and Fatah.
He has additionally covered meetings between the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and a number of international leaders, as well as Qatar’s first Shura Council elections in 2021.
Haitham’s assignments outside Qatar include coverage of Yemen’s presidential election in 2006, Kuwait’s National Assembly elections in 2009, and the launch of Qatar’s first satellite, “Es’hail-1” from French Guiana in 2013. He also conducted an English-language interview for the programme “Talk to Al Jazeera” with U.S. Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain.
